Thanks, I did that.  still wont connect. 

I have my Wifi on And Bluetooth on and the app says that im connected to the camera.  When i go to control your gopro, that's where the endless waiting for connection that never connects. how can I connect?

@scaryplaces, please make sure to have the latest version of the GoPro App installed. Also, there are some troubleshooting steps at https://community.gopro.com/t5/en/Troubleshooting-GoPro-App-Connectivity-Issues/ta-p/392964 that will help resolve the problem

 I've done everything on the troubleshooting list you recommended  and nothing.  Ive deleted all of the old stuff and updated and connected to wifi and bluetooth.  

 I've owned several Gopros since 2008 and this is the most frustrating.  I just bought a dji mavic mini and that's been a breeze to connect. I don't understand why im spending hours to get this resolved.

Current GoPro app seems to have some difficulty connecting to devices quickly...my fusion also takes about a minute or more to connect recently and if needed have to turn off device and connection and then try again... using 2.4ghz WiFi and having the devices closer has helped me connect easily.
