Video froze after about 2 seconds, audio recorded during entire time

[ New ]

I have been using my Hero 8 black and have had no problems until yesterday. I set the gopro to record before dropping into what was one of the best snowboard runs of my life. The video worked for about the first two seconds then froze. The audio recorded the whole way down but the video seems to be stuck on that initial frame.

The camera worked fine for the entire day before and after, but it seems I lost this entire run. Is there anything I can do to recover this footage? I would do just about anything to have this back. 40" of powder on a steep chute, yet nothing afterwords :( The GoPro was updated to the most recent update before going out and I have not experienced this problem before.

If this problem keeps up I will have to swtich brands. I still can't believe after setting up my camera that I got nothing after that run yet it worked normally all day before and after.

Sorry to know that @footy4jerry,

If it keeps on happening it might be a software problem or SD card.

https://gopro.com/help/articles/block/microSD-Card-Considerations

Please visit that website and check if your SD card is listed as recommended SD card.

If your SD card is on the list.

Just reformat your SD card then install new camera firmware manually: https://gopro.com/en/us/update

After installing new update, please make sure to warm up your camera before using it.

It would be best if you have waterproof case to keep it warm.
