Because it's patented by Ambarella (the processing chip maker for older GoPro cameras). GoPro does not have the rights to use this tech in the new GP1 chip.

Gopro definately tricked people by not producing a list of all the things that the Hero 8 can't do.

I was totally dissapointed to get mine and find out that it can't make a decent capacinno - why didn't Gopro tell me this.

I'm supprised at how often people seem to buy a camera that doesn't advertise a function, assume that it will have that function without checking then badmouth the camera for not having something it wasn't advertised as having in the first place.

as the user of a previous model, i expected basic functions to be maintained, i did not realise this was an unrealistic expectation when "upgrading"
