Updating my Hero7 Black

I'm having a issue with updating my camera. Using my phone i go on the gopro app. Everything seems to work good untill i click on the update. It does nothing but spin the circles and it appears to me it flashes a connection error. I am still on the version # 01.51.

Ive been trying to figure out whats going on but no luck, even been looking to do it manually but cant find my way through that either. Im lost any help is better then none at this point. Im new with the gopro cameras its been fun so far just a big learning curve for me. Im hoping to buy a computer soon and start using that instead of my phone hopefully it will help me more. Thanks

Re: Updating my Hero7 Black

See this FAQ https://gopro.com/help/articles/block/How-to-Update-GoPro-Cameras

Be sure your mobile device can connect to your home WiFi before starting the update through the GoPro app.

If that's not working and you have a computer available, download the GoPro Quik Desktop app and then connect your camera with the included GoPro cable.

If you want to manually update, you'll need an USB/SD card adapter so you can insert your microSD into your computer. Go to the update page and select, "Update your camera manually" https://gopro.com/update/hero7-black

After downloading the file UPDATE.zip, right click and choose Extract

Extract the folder UPDATE to your computer

Insert the SD card and find it using Windows Explorer (Finder in Mac).

Right click on the card drive and choose format (this will erase all media off the card, so be sure to save any photos and videos first).

After the card has been formatted, nice the UPDATE folder (not UPDATE.zip) onto the card.

When the card and place in your camera

Press the side Mode button and the camera will update.

Be sure you are using a card from this list https://gopro.com/help/articles/block/microSD-Card-Considerations
