Is this happening on all files? Do you still remember the resolution used?
How are you viewing the files? Is it directly on the camera, the app or via computer?
Here are other ways to view/import your videos:
- Use Quik for desktop
- Use an SD Adapter
- Automatic with Auto Play Options
- Manually with File Explorer

After moving all of your media off of the SD card, perform a FULL (not Quick) format of the card.
Download the Manual Update https://gopro.com/update/hero5
Extract the UPDATE folder from the UPDATE.zip file you downloaded
Once the SD card has been formatted (it can take awhile for a full format to complete), copy the UPDATE folder (not UPDATE.zip) to the blank SD card.
Eject the SD card and put it into your camera.
Power on the camera using the side Mode/Power button
Allow the Update to complete
Once done, go into preferences on the camera and format the SD card
Take two pictures and two short videos and then see if you are able to playback the files. If not, try with a different SD card from the list if possible.
