I feel like I'm missing something really obvious here, but it doesn't seem possible to access the USB port while the camera is in the mount housing. There's a large cutout in the housing next to USB flap, but not large enough to open it. I even tried to see if the flap could be detached from the camera.
If the USB port can't be accessed :
1) What is the large cutout for?
2) Why not? It's such an obvious thing given that the cam can't be mounted and charged at the same time, and it would have been easy to enable access through the housing.
I've had to recheck again to make sure I'm not overlooking something, as it's such a dumbfounding oversight.

Right, I've just worked out the USB flap detaches - although not mentioned anywhere. Still, this leaves you with a gaping hole in your case with the port exposed and you have to take the cam out to put the door back on.
Surely at the very least a frame seal/bung could be provided to keep crap out the port if using without the port door attached?

Just my professional opion, but the things the GoPro Hero 5 does for the value its' priced at, I'm amazed at its' utilitarian applications, uses, and settings. Thank you GoPro for having us users in mind when designing. I'm definitely "Stoked." Thanks :-)

Thanks for the post. I had the same question just now asked GoPro Chat person. They said there is no solution and no plans to create a housing so that you can shoot and power the camera at the same time. They did not mention removing the door. I'll try that. Thanks again.
