So I thought I'd finally stumbled across the solution to why I cannot download pics or movies from my GoPro Fusion to my Galaxy S7 (even using the latest app update 5.2.2 (7880)). However I've had to throw all my theories out the window because it seems there's something else at play here.
When I record a 11 minute clip, this seems to get broken up into two files (chaptering) and is presented as 2 seperate files in the GoPro App when browsing the camera footage. So it's broken up as a 7 minute and 4 minute file approx.
I can download video clips and photo's from the 1st file only (7 minute). However I cannot download images or video's from the 2nd file. I have both Fusions running Firmware 1.8 however the same issue occurred with Verison 2.0 Beta. When trying to download clips from the 2nd file it goes through the motions but with photo's, it will just keep kicking me back to the part where you select the screen capture you want to take. With video's, it will act as if it's downloading, give you an estimated time to download and then kicks you back to the selection part.
So current theories........ most likely, there's some sort of problem with the app reading the storage information from the camera (basing this on the fact that even with the section of the video I can download, the estimated time to download is always incorrect, the countdown always seems to hang on 1:33 or thereabouts before it finishes download) OR (and this is only based on the fact that the current app is supposed to be able to put GPS stickers on overcapture footage) when I usually start recording, I don't have a GPS lock, however I usually obtain one about 2 minutes after I start recording. So when the file is chaptered, it's possible that the 2nd file is created with a GPS lock and has the GPS information embedded into it, however this (for some reason) stops you being able to download the footage (unlikely but a possibility).
Either way, the only way to edit long clips and successfully retrieve footage is via the GoPro Fusion Studio PC app, which isn't a perfect solution as I do a lot of my captures on the Go and need to edit with a mobile device.
I'm hoping someone can feed these notes back to the developement team!

Thank you for sharing your observation.
Have you tried doing the same on a different phone?
We are trying to replicate the issue.
We'll get back to you through this post.

Hi, haven't managed to access another phone yet to try this, however I can confirm the following:
Problem exists with downloading trimmed clips from chaptered GoPro Fusion Files only (2nd cpapter onwards, 1st chapter clips and photo's download without issue). GP6, GP4 and GP2 have no such issues. Can pull video and photo's from those camera no matter what the length of clip.
Have tried also recording shorter clips with the Fusion and once the file isn't chaptered, I can download photo's and video's without issue. This is true on both 1.8 and 2.0 of the firmware.
This is using a Samsung Galaxy S7, Model SM-G930A on Android 8.0.
Previously was able to download clips from chaptered files using App pre December 2018 (App version 4.6 or 5.0?).

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you.
I have tried to replicate the issue using the following:
GoPro App 5.2.4 - iPhone8
GoPro App 5.2.2 - S8
I did not encounter any errors when downloading chaptered files, clips and videos where there were grabbed photos.
Let us know once you're able to test it with a different phone.
