Tearing in timelapse videoson GoPro 5 Black

Hi all,

I noticed terrible tearing in some timelapse videos I took recently.

It started to happen after updating the firmware to the latest available v02.60

Here are samples videos:

Any ideas how this can be fixed?

Cheers

Re: Tearing in timelapse videoson GoPro 5 Black

Hi hardybeach50771

It's best to try a manual software update again. It may have encountered some errors while the update process is being completed.

For reference, please check this link: https://gopro.com/help/articles/how_to/Software-Update-Instructions-for-HERO5-Cameras

If it's still the same after the update is done, please get back to us via phone or chat (https://gopro.com/help/ContactUs) so we can gather additional information.

Thanks!

EJ

I am having this same problem, will do a software update. However, is there a way to recover the video that was torn? I have a clip from a photoshoot I cannot retake :(

Hello @snowyridge16550

Let us know how it goes after you update your camera's software. We do not have any preferred methods of data recovery as this may vary from SD card manufacturers of the preferred methods for recovering your data. You may Google search for data recovery/repair tools or professional solutions but it would be best to reach out to the SD card manufacturer to further troubleshoot the SD card.

Thanks,

[ Edited ]

I've recently updated the firmware once again. There were no errors during the update process yet the tearing is still present is some timelapse videos.

Here's an example one I took few days ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jXPSEVNDhIs
