Right from the start my GoPro Hero 6 Black recorded sound only interrupted. Nothing for a bout 2 seconds, then some sound, then silence for 20 seconds, then some sound etc. I first thougt it has to do with wind (I used it on the helmet riding a quad), but it also happens without wind and even under water. I tried different sound settings, but no change. I think I need to return it, must be a manufacturing fault. Any other ideas?

Did you buy at gopro.com? or did you buy elsewhere, you said you will return, I suggest to do so then to troubleshoot and then you have to get to gopro for warranty. Use your return Policy first..
Sound you have no sound the wind only in manual audio is set, did you try Stereo only manual. then AUto manual if the sound cuts in and stays out, you have a hardware issue if asked. the sound board. Many complained, many were told update firmware may did not report back if fixed?
