Snowboarding Settings - Hero 7 Black

Hi Guys,

Have just bought a GoPro Hero 7 Black to use snowboarding and was looking for suggestions on what resolution/frame rate, etc to shoot with. Any suggestions would be a great help!

Thanks

Re: Snowboarding Settings - Hero 7 Black

I would suggest the following for snowboarding:

Firstly: TURN PROTUNE ON.

In Protune set the following:

Colour: GoPro

White Balance: 5000-5500K

Shutter Speed: Auto

Exposure: -0.5 or -1.0

You could opt for an ND filter and a lower shutter speed as well for motion blur but this is all a bit too much if you've just got the camera and want to get the best settin straight out of it.

Same goes for GoPro colour or Flat colour. Ideally if you're editing Flat will look better but in a snow covered situation everything is pretty white/grey anyway so GoPro colour shouldn't look too ovesaturated.

It is very important to turn your exposure down because you don't want the highlights of the snow getting blown out. Make sure it's at least -0.5 or more. If need be you can always brighten it up a bit in post.

As for resultions and framerates, I would choose 2.7k Wide/Superview (Linear is ok but for action you preferebly want the wide angle).

Make sure you are at least set to 50/60fps as you want smooth motion and the ability to slow down the footage if need be. Even push to 120fps 1080p for cool jumps etc!
