Shock sensor to auto-save footage for bike dash cam?

Do any of the cameras have a shock sensor feature to auto-save footage, similar to the Cycliq cameras? I ask as someone who wants to use a GoPro on my bike as a dash cam for possible collisions. If this feature doesn't currently exist, is it possible to pass along as feedback?

Thank you,

Richard

It's a very cool idea and I can see that feature being used for more than just capturing crashes. The place to leave feedback and suggestions is here https://gopro.com/feedback

The link is on the bottom of every page (when viewed on a computer or when the web page is displayed in Full on a mobile device). It's a little hard to find and often overlooked.

Re: Shock sensor to auto-save footage for bike dash cam?

Hey there,

As of right now, it doesn't have that feature. That would require GPS to be on all the time as the GoPro doesn't have an accelerometer ( correct me if I'm wrong), eating battery. You could try putting this suggestion into the suggestions thread.

Re: Shock sensor to auto-save footage for bike dash cam?

I think the shock sensor relies more on a sense of gravity or upright stability rather than GPS. Both Cycliq and Rideye auto-save footage when the camera is turned sideways or upside down, which is helpful during a car collision. ***SIDENOTE: I definitely don't recommend Rideye! Terrible company.

I couldn't hit "reply" in the link you sent for suggestions. Is it possible to submit this suggestion elsewhere?

Thank you for your help!

Hmmm... that’s smart, although not every crash flips your car. I’m not sure why you can’t reply to that thread. I’ll go check it myself.

Edit: It’s because the thread is closed. You could put this suggestion into a post by itself. Title it something like “GoPro Suggestions”.
