Set Date in Standard Def. HERO Original

I have an original Hero Standard Definition. The date of any pic/video is always set to 31/12/2097. I've found no date setting in the camera menu. Is there a way to correct/set the date?

Thank you for reaching out. The time and date on the camera can be set  as long as the battery stays in the camera. Once the battery is removed the time and date settings will be lost. See if the instructions on setting date and time on the camera will help. The instructions are detailed here. Let us know how it works out.

Thank you for reaching out. The time and date on the camera can be set  as long as the battery stays in the camera. Once the battery is removed the time and date settings will be lost. thanks for your reply!

Unfortunately I don't have any option to set the date in the settings menu, as described in the manual you mention. The manual is for the HD Hero, while I have the Standar Definition Hero.

Maybe I don't have the latest firmware, but couldn't find anytihng relevant in the respective section in the site!

That is true, @vasilisf. Thank you for the clarification. I also searched through Support articles on reset/updates but I am not able to find anything specific. I went through the camera menu. Let us try this. Upon turning the camera on, access the Settings menu by pressing on the front button thrice (or until you see Set on the screen). Then press the top button, then press the front button 15 times (or until you see dAT on the screen), then press the top button again. You will be given screen information to tell you whether you are changing the year, month, or date. Use the front button to navigate through, and change year, month and date) and the top button to enter your selection.

thanks for your reply! I've tried your suggestion but didn't work. I access the settings menu and pressed the top button 15 times. No dAT option came up. I tried again and pressed the top button more than 40 times, with no results.

 

Any other suggestions?

Navigate the settings of the camera by pressing the front button(menu) and the top button(shutter).

As instructed above, access Settings, once you see Setn press the top button to confirm. Then press the FRONT button(menu not the shutter) 15 times.

Once you see daT, that's the time you press the top button.

 

Kindly try to work on your camera again.

The option to change the date should be there.

thanks for the reply! I tried the process again, same results. Accessed the settings menu (SET), cycled through the options by pressing the front button 15 times, no daT setting came up. Also tried pressing more than 15 times, still no daT setting.
