Session 5 uploading to cloud

I have a second hand session 5

I don't have a premium account

But my GoPro keeps trying to upload.... Image shows GoPro to phone with a cloud image in.

Is it anything to do with the previous owner?

It turns it's self on to upload.

I have to stop the upload or it will stay connected to my phone and deplete my GoPro battery.

I don't want my videos downloading to a previous owner.

Any help to stop this please

Re: Session 5 uploading to cloud

Hero5 Session, correct?

Turn the camera on using the back mode/menu button.

Scroll to Exit

Hold down the top shutter button until the option to factory reset appears.

Choose Yes.

Once the camera resets you should be ok.

Re: Session 5 uploading to cloud

If you connect to the app again, go into settings in the app and turn off QuikStories Auto mode.

When you first start the app, press the three lines next to the GoPro Logo. Go to settings and use the slider to turn off auto upload.

Do the second option I gave first (turning off auto upload). If that fixes it, you don't need to reset the camera.

Re: Session 5 uploading to cloud

The best way to update is by doing it manually.

The easiest, but not always the most successful, ways are either with the GoPro app or Quick for desktop.

The apps will automatically detect if the camera needs an update and will step you through the process automatically so there isn't much to say about those options. However, even when they are successful, sometimes you can still get errors. Usually it works fine, but I've gotten in the habit of just updating manually and it works best.

To update manually you will need a computer and USB/SD adapter for your microSD.

On your computer, go to the update page and select your camera https://gopro.com/update

Behind the media door of the camera you will find the serial number. Enter the serial number and your information and then click next.

Click the button to generate the update and then again to download it.

Download the file to a folder or your desktop.

Right click on the UPDATE.zip file you downloaded and select Extract. Extract to the same folder or your desktop.

Remove your SD card from your camera and insert it into your computer with either a USB or SD adapter.

Plug your camera into a wall charger and let it fully charge.

On the computer, use Windows Explorer and navigate to the SD card (it will probably either be SD card D:\ or E:\}.

Right click on the SD card drive letter and choose format. Uncheck Quick Format if the SD card isn't new (normally you can do Quick Formats but periodically a Full format is a good idea to check for, and fix any errors on the card).

Once the format is complete, copy the UPDATE folder (not UPDATE.zip) to the SD card.

Right click on the card drive letter and choose eject.

Unplug the camera from the wall charger if it's done charging.

Remove the card and put it in the camera.

Wait about 10~12 seconds. If the update doesn't start automatically, press the rear mode/power button once.

The update should start in a few seconds showing 1/2.

The camera will restart half way through the update so let it sit until it's done showing 2/2 and a check mark shows on the display.

Once the update is complete it's a good idea to format the SD card in the camera and do a factory reset (this won't remove the new firmware).

Hi @lucky-charmer

Please follow this link. Choose "Update your camera manually".

Instructions will be listed once you get past the email address and serial number page.

Thanks!

Hi @lucky-charmer,

I agree with @danielr15

But the safest way or easiest way is to factory reset the camera.
