Why does GP have to segment the video files? This is a major hasle and even the list of files in the Quik program does not show you the correct order! Even if there is a technical reason to keep the files short and segmented, why not have Quik automate the process of stitching them back together? Btw, Quik is not quick nor is it simple to use. Basically seems pointless.

This will explain file chaptering and why it's needed (and loved by so many users).
You're 100% right, Quik is a bit of a PITA. Thankfully GoPro updated the GoPro app and it's a heck of a let better to use than the old app. They are currently working on new Windows software that will hopefully get rid of Quik.

Update!! A motocross buddy suggested a program called RaceRender. Once you select the first main file, it automatically finds the others and even all of the data. Not only is it easy to stitch them back together, you can also add in your gauges. Silly that Quik does not do this but here is the link http://racerender.com/Products/index.html

Yes racerender is pretty good but it's not free (the free version is watermarked and has other limitations).
Any video editor our there will allow you to join the segmented files, free video editors such as DaVinci Resolve will allow you to add effects, color correct and really do some advanced editing on your clips.

Do you know if there are any free editors that incorporate the data, ie - gps? This is what really drew my attention to RaceRender which allows you to use telemetry like speed, altitude, g-force and such.
