Re: Sd card says Full and I don't want to Format!
[ New ]If your card is saying "Full" on it and you think there's 17gb free on the card, then you're having a read/write error on your card. This means that the information being read from your card is incorrect due to a file structure issue. Your camera will not be able to correct this, your only solution is to back up your card, format it and then run a chk disc command on it.
After that, you can put the card in your camera and format it in the camera (so it's using the correct file structure for your camera). You can then move the files you backed up back to your card if you wish.

[ New ]@gerriew71316, in addition to what has been suggested, please ensure that you are using a recommended SD card for your camera. To consistently achieve the best results with your GoPro camera it is important to select microSD cards that are known to work well with the model you have.

Re: Sd card says Full and I don't want to Format!
[ New ]try a camera factory reset then. gopro threw a format code, there had to be a reason why it did that. and do not think the forum mod will help answer that , but you may call or chat wit ha rep, and dthey may troubleshoot you or come to a conclusion if a camera is to be replaced how they do things.
