Screen protectors and cage with 52mm adapter for Hero 8?

[ New ]

I just got a Hero 8 and want to protect the lens and screens. Ultimately, I want to get a cage (Ulanzi?) and use 52mm lenses (ND, etc.).

For the time being though, should I get lens/screen protectors? Once I do get a cage, should I remove the lens protectors and just use say a UV filter as protection or would I leave the lens protectors on?

I just worry about the image going through both a filter *and* a screen protector.

It's going to depend on the quality of the lens protectors you buy.  GoPro's are excellent and don't have any visual distortions at all.  You can use them with filters and you won't see any difference.

However if you buy cheap protectors the quality will drop and the same applies to any filters that you use etc  The cheaper they are, the worse the optics will be.

However even with cheap filters so close to the lens, you won't notice a huge quality drop, I used cheap filters (and lens protectors) with my GP4 black and even stacking 4 or 5 filters, there wasn't a noticable quality drop.
