Sandisk SDSQXCY-064G-GN6MA compatible with Hero 7? Freezing problems
[ New ]Hi,
Could you please verify is the Sandisk SD card SDSQXCY-064G-GN6MA compatible with the Hero 7 black? It is not listed on the supported SD cards list in GoPro webpage. Many are close, but no exact match. This card is sold as a bundle with the Hero 7 at a local dealer.
The reason why I'm asking is that I am experiencing intermittent freezing of my Hero 7 Black. I have owned the camera for about 5 months now, and have experienced three lock-ups during this time. Once the camera stopped reacting to buttons during recording, and it continued to film until the battery drained. The video was not saved. Two lockups happened when the camera was "powered off", and it would not turn on anymore. In all three cases I tried holding down the mode button to reset the camera (multiple times), but it did not help. The camera would not react to any button presses whatsoever.
However in these two cases where the camera was powered off and would not turn on, it did recover after a while (~10mins) being left alone, after which it would turn on again when pressing the mode button. I did not remove the battery, it just started to work again on its own.
I really like the camera and the video quality, but the chance of a complete lockup is unacceptable for an action camera. It has already cost me losing three sport events I would have liked to capture.

[ New ]Hi @jonasn607
Sorry for any troubles caused.
Which store did you purchase it from?
Would you be able to send a picture of the SD card and the box of the camera.
You may also try the steps on Camera Freezes Up
Thanks!

Re: Sandisk SDSQXCY-064G-GN6MA compatible with Hero 7? Freezing problems
[ New ]Hello Ej,
I have kept Landscape lock and Low light settings off. So those settings are not causing this issue.
I have checked the article you linked. I have the newest software on the camera which was updated via the desktop app. I have not tried the manual update feature yet.
I have now re-formatted the SD card. I will try to record a few events with the camera during the following week. The problem is that most of the time the camera is working perfectly fine. The lockup only happens from time to time, which makes the issue even more annoying and difficult to link to any spesific conditions. Still, even intermittent lockups are not acceptable.
Is it possible for GoPro to verify the exact SD card model which I mentioned in my previous message, so we could at least rule out the possibility of SD card issue?

Re: Sandisk SDSQXCY-064G-GN6MA compatible with Hero 7? Freezing problems
[ New ]Perform a FULL (not Quick) format of the SD card in your computer. Install the Manual update and then format the card in the camera.
The card you are using is fine, but that doesn't mean that it doesn't potentially have it'own issues. For example, I have four SanDisk Extreme cards that I use with my HERO7 Black. Three of the cards work fine, but if I insert the forth, after about 15 minutes of using the camera it will freeze. Holding down the side Mode button for about 12 seconds and then releasing generally reboots the camera. After that, it seems to work fine. This freezing behavior does not happen when I use the other three cards that are the exact same manufacturer, model, and size. In my experience, even though they are very popular, SanDisk cards are just not consistently reliable.
