Sand

I used my new Hero5 black at the beach twice. Just for a short period and held in my hand. No hatches were opened while at the beach. I rinsed in cold water afterwards. However there is sand in the doors. They grate when being opened. Is that normal? I am really questioning the waterproof and ruggedness now!

Re: Sand

Small pieces of sand can get into the edges, but should not get past the seals inside the doors. Rinsing with water is a good idea. You can also try compressed air to blow it out.

Re: Sand

As long as there's no sand on the rubber seal or the place where the seal touched the camera, you will be fine. My personal H5B has sand stuck in weird places and it works fine.
