Over the years I've used multiple GoPro cameras and SD cards. These are the cards and cameras that work for me (The card works in the camera pictured, sometimes does not work in higher models). Every camera and corresponding card works flawlessly. It's not that I haven't had issues, but rather when I have, by changing my SD card the issue has been resolved.
The following are cards that have given me issues with my cameras. Note, two of the cards are in both pictures; Lexar 633X and SanDisk Extreme. These are not the same card but the same make and model. I also have a Lexar 1000X that worked in my GoPro cameras but it is in the phone I'm using to take these pictures. Once I started using Samsung Pro/Pro+ I moved the Lexar 1000X to my phone. All of my cameras work without issue, but if I put the following cards into my GoPro cameras I get SD Err, frozen camera, incomplete update, and corrupted files.
Interestingly enough, these cards work fine in other devices. I'm not saying all GoPro camera issues are SD card related, but I know for a fact (after years of experience and participation on many GoPro forums) that most issues are SD card related.
Note: two cards are not pictured because they gave me so many problems not only in my GoPro cameras but in other devices as well that I threw them away are Kingston 32GB class 10 and another SanDisk Ultra.
Also, in case you can't see in the pictures, the camera and card from bottom left and working clockwise are; Session (Samsung Pro 64GB, Hero5 Black (Samsung Pro Extreme 64GB), Hero5 Session (Samsung Pro+ 64GB), Hero3 Silver (SanDisk Exteme32GB), Hero3+ Black (Samsung Pro 64GB), Hero4 Silver (Samsung Pro Extreme 32GB - Lens shade is because I use on my drone), Original Hero (Lexar 633X 32GB).
The SD card that have given me issues are:
PNY HC Class 10 8GB, SanDisk Extreme 32GB, SanDisk Ultra 16GB, Samsung Evo 64GB, Samsung Evo 32GB, Lexar 633X 32GB (worked for about a year then gave out), SD card readers PNY & SanDisk, and finally the first card I ever used for my Hero, Transcend SD HC Class 10 8GB. Also, which I would have pictured but threw away, SanDisk Ultra 64GB and Kingston (mentioned above)
