Previously did this with 4 hero4 now using 4 hero 7
4 cameras pointing at action over 2 hours. Action happens for about 5seconds up to 3-4 times over 2 hours shooting in 1080 and action is 10m away so cannot see fwd screen or reverse screen (cameras about 2m off the ground)
these cameras are on for two hours continuously and the action when it happens is caught by pressing the remote record for about 20s of video and then stopping recording.
However, seems so hit and miss with hero 7 black,
1. Previously cameras had blue light to signify WiFi on and working and red light when set to record using paired remote
now there is nothing, can’t see the screen from 10m away.
2. Previously when remote was activated the camera came alive and a quick glance you could see this (light)
3. With new cameras they always appear dead after a few minutes and yet pressing the remote bottom left to switch them on seems random, do the camera have to be switched or or how do you know when they are in standby.
Am I missing something obvious, having to resort to manually recording all four camera at the moment as remote seems to randomly connect to different combinations of the four cameras each time I try and record.
any help much appreciated.

Lots of questions in this support hub, but I had hoped for some answers.
go pro states 50 cameras can be controlled remotely, I’m having no joy with 3x Hero7
Really flakey compared to my old 3x Hero4 cameras.

Hello @ians20164. The HERO7 Black does not have a Blue light to indicate Wi-Fi status, but it should have red lights lit up when recording. If you are not getting any light, check and make sure that the LEDs are not set to All Off. To do this, go to Preferences, then General, then LEDs, then select All On.
Is it the Smart Remote that you have? Which version is it running on? See what number comes up beside the "v" when you power on the remote. The remote can control any combination of camera models as long as the remote version is not lower than 2.1.7. The version should not matter though if you are using the same camera models.
If you haven't done it yet, reset the remote control by pressing and holding the Power/Mode button for at least 8 to 10 seconds and re-pair the cameras with it. Should the issue continue to happen, our Support team here will be able to assist you further. You may reach them by phone or chat.

After about 30mins the gopro loose their connection with the remote, and the cameras go off, when you try to wake them up by pressing remote, only one of the three paired go pros is activated.
Utter rubbish w.r.t the previous Hero4 when you could tell was still connected due to the blue light and would rec when requested fro mthe remote even when in their sleep mode.
Switching the cameras on and thinking thery are still connected to the remote does not work and then only one camera starts to record.
As I say utter rubbish and a MASSIVE backward step IMHO.

Yes all leds on, remote V2.1.7.
They all pair ok, then power down the remote (to save battery) I install go pros in position, and when the action starts circa 30 mins later I notice all screens are blank and when I power up the remote it seraches for ages and does not find them.
If I switch the cameras all back on and then power up remote & hit record, only one is activated.
It is, as if when the remote is powered off or the cameras switch off they loose their connection / pairing with the the remote.
With the older cameras, the remote could be powered off and the camera would hybernate but when the remote was powered back up all three cameras would come on and when hit record all three would record. (blue light fashing even when in hybernate)
These new cameras do not appear to work the same way.
I would like a written explanation, (not links, I have followed these to the letter and been using gopro/remote for 4-5 years) how to set up these three cameras with a smart remote, and then say 30mins later power back up the remote and record on ALL three.
How you claim 50 is beyond me !

Here's a copy of my last post on this issue. I'm so frustrated with my GoPro Hero 7 Blacks that I don't even like to use them anymore... If my Hero 3+ Blacks weren't so suseptable to the high frequency vibration issue that causes "wave" to travel across the video, I'd still be using them. GoPro doesn't even reply to me now and hasn't followed up on my open service ticket. When I chat with them, I request transcripts of the chat that they never send. I do wish you luck but wouldn't hold my breath. Here's the link to a video they required I make showing that the command of "use GoPro App" is completely nonfunctioning. I hear you. GoPro has pretty much abandon us on this issue. I don't even get the courtesy of a warm and fuzzy followup when I engage support on this issue.
The only way I've been able to get any reliability is to delete my cameras from my phone (wifi and Bluetooth), reset the connection from the cameras, pair only to the GoPro remote and leave the cameras "ON". Interesting footnote is that I'm on my second GoPro Smart Remote and I think this "factory reset" procedure of holding the power button down for 10 seconds is eyewash (bs). I do this without resetting the connections on my cameras and the remote still finds the cameras which, if the remote is truly reset, should not be able to happen.
I really believe that this issue stems from GoPro either intentionally or unintentionally neglected to put the submenus and associated firmware in the camera menu that allow us to tell the camera which signal to pay attention to exclusively. From the mobile application the camera doesn't respond to the command of "use current remote" and there is no longer that command on the camera so it's always looking for signals. When I've got all my cameras connected to the remote, the remote will show 4 cameras connected after I've turned off the Wi-Fi one at a time on all cameras"

Thought I'd throw in one more thing Ian. It's discouraging but support on this issue, until a firmware release comes along, is a waste of your time. They'll have you jump through hoops to stall you until you go away. This camera was rushed to get it to market by Christmas 2018. All the things that made the older models easy were discarded on the Hero 7 Black. No seperate WiFi controls was a stupid move. Burying the on/off for the WiFi in a submenu was a stupid move. The connectivity and control of the 3+ was rock solid. I only look at this "community" page out of morbid curiosity.
