Recording Video in Portrait while holding GoPro Vertically (Portrait)

Hello All,

I bought a sleeve and lanyard for my GoPro 7 Black. My intention was to use it to hang the camera on the lanyard and record a video as I am walking. This seemed more discreet than running around with the GoPro in my hand.

Thing is that no matter what setting I choose the video will always record in portrait mode. Even if I start the video in landscape and then let the camera hang on the lanyard, the rest of the video records in portrait.

Am I missing something or is it just not possible to record landscape when the camera is held at a 90-degree angle?

I do apologize if this is a repeat question. I can't imagine no one else asking but could for the life of me not find answers either here, google or youtube.

Thank you!

Richard

Re: Recording Video in Portrait while holding GoPro Vertically (Portrait)

Yup, you got it, but I just thought of a solution in the meantime. I strung up the lanyard to the 'cage' that holds the GoPro. (where the screw would go through) and now it hangs horizontally (landscape) albeit upside down.

I was trying to accommodate using the rubber casing that came with the lanyard and make use of it. I guess the purpose of the lanyard was not to have a means of attaching the GoPro to yourself for filming (unless portrait) but rather to carry it.

Thanks to all who read, apologies to those who thought "here we go again" and hopefully the above helps someone who is facing the same dilemma.

Best,

Richard
