Protection for the front of a Hero 6?

I trail ride on horseback and mount the camera on my helmet. I bought the water proof case thinking that's what I wanted but then couldn't control the cam with the remote. What can I use to protect the cam from getting scratched by branches but still use the remote?

Thanks,

Karen

Re: Protection for the front of a Hero 6?

Hi Karen - are you using the Remo remote? You should still be able to use it with the camera in the case - did you pair it first before you tried to use it? Normally the gopro is paired with a phone so you would need to switch to the remote. Prootection wise I bought tempered glass for front and back for bonus protection - just search on amazon or ebay for GoPro Hero 5 tempered glass - it will fit the 6

crazysteve is right in that the GoPro remotes and even your phone should be able to connect with and control the camera even it the camera is in the Super Suit. The HERO6 is waterproof and may be fine on its own unless you are expecting lots of brush. We'd love to see some of your videos!

Re: Protection for the front of a Hero 6?

Just to add to the above, the protective lens on the front of the camera is replaceable (which you probably already know since you have the Supersuit) and while the camera may get a few superficial scratches, in general, it should be ok in it's frame mount. Having said that, I'd recommend using the Supersuit just for the added protection. Your smart remote or Remo should work fine in the Supersuit. You may just need to pair it again.

Here is a little ride I recently went on. Fined with Hero6. https://youtu.be/Whc1q2pxUjg

Re: Protection for the front of a Hero 6?

LOVE your vid!  Riding on the beach is in my bucket for sure.

What software did you use to edit the video?  I'm in a quandry with mine because nothing I have recognizes the videos from the 6.  I also have a "senior" computer that still runs Win 8.1 and I really don't want to get a new computer!

I ride in southern Indiana and suprisingly, we have steep hills and some pretty tough trails.  Even when on the horse trails, I get dinged by overhanging branches which is why I want some extra protection.

Re: Protection for the front of a Hero 6?

Thanks ☺️
I edit with Adobe Premiere Pro. I've also used DaVinci Resolve. It's very similar and is free. Both have a bit of a learning curve but get easier. You can also try VSCD which might be easier on your computer. I'd first try DaVinci though, since if you ever want to upgrade to a paid software it will make the transition easier.

I tried the remote with the cam in the case again and it worked! YAY! I'm not sure what I did or didn't do the other time.

Thanks!
