Freezing on the camera is an indication that there might be an issue with the current software installation or compatibility issue with the SD card being used. Is this a recent event? If you have not done it yet, try manually updating your camera through the steps described here: Make sure that the SD card that you are using is a recommended on, and that it is formatted prior to the update. You can check the list of SD cards that work with GoPro here. It is important to fully charge the camera before starting with the update process.
