Problem with the Files

Hey all
Im only back from holidays and noticed that my SD card and the GoPro app are only showing pary of the files that were saved on the SD card. Basically I have files that were saved from the 10-18 of March but anything past that date (I was using it until 30th of March) is not there even though the GoPro was showing messages “Saving” as usual and the counter for the time of amount of lictuyI can still save was counting down which was indicative of the files being saved. Please help as I need them files badly !!! I was using HERO5

Re: Problem with the Files

Hi @agilebluff24460

What SD card are you using?

Apart from the GoPro app, have you tried using a computer or an SD adapter to view the files?

Are you able to view the files directly on the camera?

Unfortunately, we do not have any preferred methods of data recovery as this may vary from SD card manufacturers of the preferred methods for recovering your data. However, you may be able to perform a Google search to find various data recovery options to recover the footage that had been lost. Yet, please do your research on whichever data recovery software is best for you as it may require activation of the software and there may be varying costs.

Additionally, I must warn that if the files are currently missing on the microSD card to not record any new photos and or videos with the card that had been used. This will overwrite the  files that may have been on there to where it would not be possible to recover.

Since this is certainly not normal for missing files to suddenly go missing, I do recommend to reach out to the SD card manufacturer to further troubleshoot the SD card.

I hope this information helps.

Regards,

Ej

Re: Problem with the Files

Hello
I’m using a 512GB Lexar card which just found out is not suited for this model as the biggest one should be 256 for GoPro HERO5. Yes I tried to open files through adapter and connected GoPro to the computer but couldn’t see the files again. After talking to support, most likely I need to look at Lexar SD card recovery data app or get in touch with Lexar directly.
