You don't really need a clapper board for basic audio syncing, but that could be fun to use too.
i just have software autosync using the onboard audio as the guide track.
It just lines things up via the overall waveform.
The built in FCPX feature for audio sycn works well, as does the PluralEyes plugin.
They can be tweaked if needed but I generally do fine letting them do their own magic.
No drift that I notice, however I am less than 10 minutes.
PluralEyes has "drift correction" in case that would assist for long videos with dialogue / lips visible.
Have not tried on 2 hour 4K60P HyperSmooth™ dialogues.

To get this topic back on line...I have to agree with DanielR, the type of cable must have something to do with it.
I watched FishyComics video and ran my own tests on a v1.51 Hero 7 Black. I was using a 10 foot 56k Ohm pull-up resistor compliant cable from APFEN Right Angle Type C Cable and connected to an Anker Power Bank.
1) Anker Power Bank connected to Apfen cable and plugged into Hero7Black - H7B recorded fine for a minute and then stopped = FAIL
2) Anker Power Bank connected to Apfen cable connected to Pro Mic Adapter into Hero7Black = WORKS PERFECTLY
So, my conclusion is that either the Apfen cable is not completely compliant with USB-C specs or it does not have a 56k Ohm pull-up resistor as the Amazon seller claims.
Oddly, my Hero 5 Black functions PERFECTLY with this 10 foot Apfen cable and the Anker Power Bank, no Pro Mic Adapter needed. GoPro battery inside camera and no issues either.
This is a real bummer on the H7B since I need a 10 foot cable when shooting video on a 17 foot kayak. I keep the power banks in a waterproof console in the middle of the kayak and the 2 GoPros on 5 foot boom poles.
It seems like the only solution for me right now is to either buy two new Anker Powerline USB-C to USB 3.0 Cable (10ft) with 56k Ohm Pull-up Resistor OR I purchase another Pro Mic Adapter ($50) to use with the second H7B.

Just ordered 2 Anker PowerLine+ C to C 2.0 cable (6ft) with 56k Ohm Pull-up Resistor and will be the guinea pig tester
Also ordered a second ProMicAdapter just in case. I confirmed and know my 10 foot Apfen cable cable works when plugged into the ProMicAdapter.
I shoot multi-cam with 3 GoPros (2 H7B's & 1 H5B) on my kayak, all synced up via the newer Smart Remote (3 Button) so having external power is absolutely crucial for me. Wireless is always on and the camaras are also left on all day.
FWIW, Anker states that only their USB-C to USB-A cables and USB-C to Micro USB adapters are equipped with 56K Ohm resistors. Their USB-C to USB 3.0 cables DO NOT have the 56K Ohm resistors.
Cables arrive tomorrow night so I might get a test in and report back here on Friday.

I have come to my conclusion of other issues as well, it's my camera.. the loss of wireless connection again less the promic adapter and power go figure no big deal for me. I will still test out for the H6B

Seems you've started crying again on a forum. It's ok, it's not your fault nobody likes you. Oh wait, it is. Have you tried posting something useful for a change?

"crying" "nobody likes you" - Really?
I hope you don't mind, but I've decided to not play into your childish taunts, and insults. I admit, it is difficult sometimes to not want to respond, as I am doing it now. I do feel sad for you and your immature ways and hope that you will find the ability to grow up. However, as you clearly see yourself in an entirely different light, I doubt that day will ever come. Please try to keep in mind that others in this forum care very little for you or me, and I'm sure they could care less about this little squabble you want to maintain.
Be done, and let it be.
I will do the same.
