Needs to sound professional as well.
Thanks for the snarky comment.

I apologize for my snarkiness. Please rest assured that I did not intend to direct it towards you... I am VERY frustrated by the mic adapter issue, which from all accounts has been ongoing for several months now. But gopro's website always says available in "3 or 4 days". Good luck, and I share your pain. I too am trying to find one.

If you have a decent audio editor you can try recording with the RAW audio options. Low gives the most flexibility when editing, however since no enhancement is being done in the camera, the audio file will usually appear to have no recording until you bump up the db considerably. Medium is a good alternative as some processing is applied in camera, while high is basically the same audio as found in the video file but in a better .wav format.
If you are doing professional work, a separate audio mic is a good option. Two inexpensive external recorders are the Zoom H1n and TasCam DR-05. You just need a loud noise at the beginning of the recording (like a hand clap) to allow for syncing of the audio from the external recorder to that in the video. You can also connect other external mics or lavaliere to the external recorders as needed. This is a much better way to record professional sounding audio than utilizing the camera mics or an external mic connected to a camera (any camera, not just GoPro).
