So I've been trying to get two GoPro 7 Blacks paired to a smart remote (ver 1.0.0) and am having lots of problems. I'm wondering if anyone can suggest a solution.
The first thing I'll say is that the gopro software is buggy. Once I pair a GP7B to the smart remote, I am unable to pair it again. I have to do a factory reset of the GP7B to get the pairing process to work.
Second issue is that the IOS app options of 'use current wifi remote and use new wifi remote' both fail. use current wifi remote does nothing and the use new wifi remote returns with a big red 'Failed!' message right away.
So I was able to get both cameras paired to the remote by factory resetting both and then doing the pairing to the remote. At the end of this process I had full control of the cameras and was happy. But then I connected the cameras to the iphone app so that I could configure the cameras. Once I was done with this the remote no longer controls the 2 GP7B. The remote WILL turn the GP7B on but then loses control and there is a message on the remote 'CAM Cameras Powered Off'.

After more testing I've narrowed the problem down to having the GoPro 4 paired with the two GoPro 7s. The 4 causes random flakiness of the remote - not seeing cameras, only controlling 1 and cycling through different numbers of cameras found.
Can anyone confirm if I should be able to have a 4 and a 7 on the same remote?
Also I've eliminated the wifi frequency on the 7s as an issue - 2.4 and 5 work (or dont) the same

So my testing with only two gopro 7s attached to the remote is much better but still flawed. I have reported the issues to GoPro support, but we'll see what goes on with them.
I tested successfully the two remotes 12 times (power on, record on, record off, power off) but then had one of the two cameras stop responding. Re-pairing would also not work. I found that pulling the battery got that camera to respond again. Both cameras have had this 'stopped responding' issue so I dont think its hardware, its a software problem.

my initial testing is positive - I think the new firmware is solid enough I'll take the cameras out with the remote next time. My configuration is 2 gopro 7 blacks only - I'm not brave enough to put the 4 on yet.
I will say that after the initial turn on of the remote, after it turned on both GP7, I did see some cycling between the searching icon, 1 camera found, cameras powered off - it happened quickly though (maybe 10 sec/screen) and settled down after a minute.
Also I do note that I am having to press the record button sometimes twice to get it to register but the remote makes it obvious the first press didn't go through so its workable.

I've just tested with a Hero 3+Black, Hero4 Black, Hero 6 Black, Hero 7 Black. Albeit with the original Gopro Remote and not the Smart remote. All connected fine, I was able to turn off, turn on, change modes and initiate video, photo etc. On a couple of occasions it took a little longer to re-establish the connection to the H6/H7 but it always cam back. unfortunately I can't directly add a video to this post and not able to upload to youtube at the moment, I'll try adding in a Original HD hero and a Hero 2 in a while and do something with the video.
