When I try to motovlog, all my audio breaks up really badly. I have a Movo external mic attached to the Hero5 3.5mm adaptor and have used several different SD cards with different speed ratings with the same results. I have a friend that has tried to do the same thing with his Hero5 Black while using a Sony mic and has the exact same issues. He has had to revert back to his Hero4 to do any kind of motovlogging. I am just wondering if this is a issue with the software, the adaptor, camera or all combined. Any options would be helpful.

Great question @hurricaneforce.
So the GoPro HERO5 uses a new USB-C port,
so is the mic adapter you have a GoPro
USB-C adapter? And also the mics you're
using aren't compatible with the HERO5.

The adaptor I have is the USB-C adaptor that is sold in the GoPro web store just for the 5 Black, otherwise I would not be able to hear any sound at all through the mic. The mics I referred to both work on every other version of GoPro. So why is the GoPro5 Black so special that it requires a totally different mic? Which mics do work if any? Or did I just waste $400 on a useless camera.

Those mics look good but the is one BIG problem, I Motovlog. None of those mics will fit in a motorcycle helmet. So unless they make any of those mics in a really tiny size to fit into a helmet it looks like the GoPro will go bye-bye.
If anyone else has a suggestion that will work, please let me know.

That is very true @hurricaneforce.
It's not always best to have the latest, because not many people
have products for it yet. But, I would stick with the HERO4 Black or Silver.
I think the HERO5 Session would work with those mics.

No way!! So first GoPro try to sell an adapter that is ridiculous expensive, large and almost everyday "out of stock". then there are only a couple specific mic's that works with the GoPro 5. After all of this, there are troubles with the sd cards that are "recommended" with the camera. What an piece of crap. really regrets this camera. First and last GoPro camera for me.
Thought i bought an camera with endless possibilities..
