Playing 240 FPS videos

Hi..I own a hero black 7. I'm planning to get a Microsoft surface pro 7. If I go for a i5/8 GB RAM configuration...will I be able to playback 240 FPS videos smoothly, shot on GoPro7. I'm not looking for any editing and stuff. Only need to playback 240 FPS videos smoothly. So my question is a i5/8GB configuration be sufficient to play back higher FPS videos smoothly or should I go for 16GB RAM?

Re: Playing 240 FPS videos

hmmm, you should be ok.....Should. The i5-1035G4 processor is pretty decent, although getting i7 is generally the best way to go (i5 are just i7 that didn't pass specifications so they tend to range from Very good to So-So depending on if it tested close, but not quite an i7 to poor, but not bad enough to be an i3. Problem is, you never know which one you'll get). It's got the cores you need, it's the latest release, and it's going into a Surface Pro, so it's probably fine and I'm making more out of it than I should.

As far as RAM is concerned, 8 GB is the minimum. What this basically boils down to is, yes, it should be OK, but it's never good to be working with the bare minimum. You can never have enough RAM, so if you can upgrade to the 16 GB without going out of your budget, do it without question. You're limited to an Intel Iris Plus for graphics (instead of a dedicated GPU with its own processor and RAM) so you want to give your system all the help it can get.

The Surface Pro has an SSD for storage and this is going to help quite a bit as well.

What I'm struggling with is the way you phrased it with the word, "sufficient". My best response to this is, Yeah, probably. How smooth and consistent, that I'm not sure. You will be much better off with 16 GB RAM (and possibly even the i7) in the long run.

Hi,

My experience - editing Sony Vegas 15Pro

Video - on time-line: 2,7k/60fps samples - previouse works smooth.

Video - on time-line: 1080p/240fps samples - previouse little bit lagging.

Video - on time-line: 1080p/240fps samples -  velocity changed to 13% of 240fps(8xtimes slower) - previouse lokks like slideshow.

Video - on time-line: 4k/60fps samples - previouse little bit lagging.

|6cores/12threads | 32GB RAM | SSD Nvme x 4 | GTX 1060 6gb|

Playback:

Acer Swift 3 - i3/4gb/128gb sd - 4k/60fps works smooth.
