I just purchased a number of GoPro Hero 7 Silver's to specifically use the photo time-lapse functionality. This was an excellent feature that I had used on both the GoPro Hero 5 Black and the GoPro Hero 7 Black. With the 0.5 second interval and GPS enabled, it is an excellent way to collect street-level imagery.
To my horror, the Silver does not have this functionality. I should definitely have paid more attention, but I'm also very surprised it is not included.
- Is the exclusion of this feature just a means of differntiating their product line up? Silver seemed like a better camera than the Hero 5 Black, so I assumed it would support this functionality.
- Are we likely to see this feature added down the track in a firmware update?
- Is there anyone else at their lamenting the exclusion of this feature?

Thank you for the feedback, @foggysurf46255 . There is currently no information regarding adding the photo time-lapse mode to the HERO7 Silver features. We will definitely pass this along to the team. Best regards!

Did the team say whether this is something they can incorporate into the firmware? All the cameras I have purchased are useless for me at the moment without timelapse photo mode.

Totally agree with @foggysurf46255 ,I bought a goproHero 7 for occasional use (because I'm not a professional video-maker or an extreme sportsman, so I should not need the black version) but when i realize the lack of functions I had to change my mind.
Buying the hero 7 in different versions from the Black is comparable to buy a product that is not flexible and not optimized, not an updated product and in step with the times and it is not worth to support a company that is not close to his customers.
Advice for new customers: it is much more useful to buy a previous Hero (like 5 or 6) in the black version then buy a newer product.

HERO7 Black is priced higher than the Silver or White because it has more features. As far as comparing last years top of the line to this years mid and basic range devices, I agree that the HERO6 Black is a step above the HERO7 Silver or White, but not necessarily the HERO5 Black or HERO (2018). If stabilization doesn't matter and you don't need faster wi-fi transfer, Zoom, countdown timer for photos, and a slightly sharper image with better dynamic range, then yes, the HERO5 Black does have some more functions. But, that doesn't necessarily make it a better camera than the HERO7 Silver or even the White. It really comes down to the individual and what their needs are. Giving definitive advice over what device to get without taking into account that person's needs is worthless.
I have a HERO3 Black, HERO3+ Black, HERO4 Silver, HERO5 Black, HERO6 Black, and HERO7 Black. This Christmas I purchased a HERO7 White as a gift. Why? Because it was the best camera to suit the needs of the person I was purchasing it for. The HERO7 Silver and White are most certainly an update over previous GoPro cameras when it comes to ease of use, stabilization, and even picture quality at the same settings. It's always a bummer to make a purchase without taking the time to research all of the features and then finding what you need isn't available, but a comment like, " it is not worth to support a company that is not close to his customers" is just silly. GoPro is very actively involved with the market for their action cameras, has wide ranging Beta Tester Programs, and host special events to get feedback all the time. Perhaps the bigger problem is people forget that it's an action camera, and so is them that don't understand the market for which it is created for. Sure, GoPro cameras are incredibly versatile and can be used in just about any situation/environment, but it is an action camera first and foremost.

I think everyone understands that higher priced products would have more features than their cheaper counterparts. What really frustrates me about this though is that it is an artifical limitation. They could easily make the Silver a better product but adding this functionality. It is software they have already developed and the hardware supports it.
