I just bought HERO5 Black and tested it out and one thing really bugs me. It's the audio.
I know it's action cam, and i don't expect miraculously good audio, but here is what happens to me.
When i record a video and then playback in via the hero5, the audio is just horrible - there is a loud static noise/humming/hissing - and other sounds are fairly loud aswell. (tested indoors and outdoors, there couldn't be any electrical interference, and results are same - loud noise throughout footage)
I have latest firmware 1.57 and tested auto audio, wind reduction and stereo only mode, still the same - noise.
Then i tried to open the file via Capture app on my phone and it still sounds same - loud noise and all other sounds failry loud aswell.
Then i tried to copy the footage into my pc. When opened in pc, audio seems more quiet and the noise is kinda acceptable (but still there if you boost the volume high enough).
My main question is, how does the playback in hero5 sounds to you guys? Do you hear loud static too? Or is it normal?
Or any possible tips for me to try?

I have an audio sample - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yX4v4oVwiYA
(auto audio, no protune, no other deviced nearby, except wifi router (seen in the video))
As i mentioned earlier, the audio here (from PC) doesn't have that much noise, but only because audio is significantly lower compared to playback audio in hero5, where volume is really high (50%+).
When you playback recorded video in hero5 with 50% or more volume, do you hear loud noise? It may really be only because of the high volume that the noise is so noticable... On the other hand, on lower volume it's hard to make up some sounds because it's just too silent.
And one other thing i noticed. When in left swipe menu (playback menu) i hear the same noise from reproductor when i get my ear close to it. It constantly there, even when not playing the videos. Simply being in this menu makes the noise. In other menus or while recording, it isn't there (it's ok).
If you would, please tell me how does your hero5 behave, do you hear same noises?
And one other question, does protune have any effect on audio?

Here is a clip I just made, you may want to compare it to yours, I did not choose to talk as I wanted you to hear the camera grabbing the ambient sound:
I used quik capture, the last few seconds is me touching the shutter so hearing that click or pop is normal. I personally want to record each and every setting, and with every accessory and I will still come up with the issues that gopro needs to fix the sound.

Yes Audacity I am well aware of with Lame for years. I use Magix 2017. The GoPro Hero 5 is not like the Hero 4. where the sound is Spot on. We all understand the case, membrane and that triphonic 3rd mic and electronic stereo sound all needs a fixing?
In the Mean time I shall grab a video and do that once again. see how much time goes into something so simple to do, Point-n-shoot camera this is not. I own Sony's, Aipteks you name it and I wil lnot give up until I found my solution, I may deal with it . but it seems it is never ending with GoPro. Took a step forward and two steps back.
Dishwasher, fish bowl, yeah only a select few will post not manhy care I guess, Music, copyrighted youtube whatever. I like to vlog, POV a lot of things. I like to share and not share noise. Lol
