No LowLight?

[ New ]

The Hero 8 also had a menu item LowLight - this is missing from the Hero 9! Why? I checked that with the same configuration (1080 25fps wide hypersmooth off).

Firmware is up to date (manual update...)!

Re: No LowLight?

[ New ]

The fact is "Auto low light" kinda takes the "pro" out of GoPro.  For those of you who don't know, all Auto Low light did was automatically adjust your frame rate in low light conditions.  So if you were shooting at 50FPS or above, it would drop it down to 25FPS or 30FPS (depending on your region) in order to allow more light to be captured.  That's all it did.

For those of you shooting at 30FPS or below, the Auto Low light option wouldn't have made a difference as you were shooting at a low frame rate anyway.

When shooting in low light conditions, having the frame rate keep automatically adjusting wasn't that great an option at all as it would often result in bad footage which would include blur, noise etc.  It also sometimes led to issues with playback and editing on certain systems and programs.

The 2nd best way to eliminate blur in your video in low light is to manually increase your shutter speed while shooting at a low frame rate (and you can read all the debates on this one you want online).  The best way of course is to just add more light.

So why is auto low light no longer an option?  In all fairness, who the heck used it?  Most people wanting the best picture possible when shooting in low light went and manually adjusted their settings anyway.  So removing it was one less thing the overclocked image processor had to do anyway.

Hello, @oliverz513. The Auto Low Light setting is not missing from the HERO9 Black. The camera does not have it as a feature.

First of all thank you for your reply! It was not that easy to find because of "what my order", "support not available", "the remote control / GPS / QUICK does not work" But, isn't that the same? why was this feature that the Hero 7 and Hero 8 no longer adopted in the Hero 9?

Instead of giving such unnecessary messages - link the small print where it is! I haven't found anything about it. So - WHY does this setting no longer exist (somebody must have thought something not to include the feature...). I know THAT it doesn't exist!

Hero 8:

LowLight is available at 60FPS 50 fps , not 48 fps, 30fps 25 fps, 24fps. the camera automatically goes into Low light when the fps are dropped to 30fps and under.

Hero 9 no longer, but you can Manually  get to it, Right?

It was a setting that you simply set up and did not worry bout. now that GoPro took it away.  is it there  set to On, enabled all the time, without anyone knowing? that is the question?

17 pages on which you puked out a lot of people about the fact that the remote control does not work and anyway, the camera gets hot, gps does not work either ... but no word about why lowlight is no longer available .... so WHERE can you read it?

I'm not complaining that the point doesn't exist, I just want to know why!
