No Hypersmooth 2.0, No "Boost", No Stabilization, No nothing in 4K 60P Linear

What?

Really?

Yes. There is absolutely zero, none, nada, zilch stabilization in 4K 60P Linear Mode on the new Hero 8.

So, if you want non-distorted smooth stabilized without a gimbal 4K60P video without that fisheye look, it's impossible with the Hero 8.

I'm just scratching my head, and wondering...why?

And, why don't the GoPro support specialists know if and when a firmware update will address the issue?

It's been confirmed that HyperSmooth is coming to 4k60 later this fall in a firmware update.

Thank you for that, but, confirmed by GoPro?

Because, if there is such a firmware update being prepared, the support specialists are unaware of it, completely.

@swiftoasis23370, the camera's firmware has to be on v1.20 to access HyperSmooth 2.0. However the HyperSmooth is unavailable when recording 4K60 video with the Linear digital lens -- it will use standard video stabilization in its place.

Uh...

"...it will use standard video stabilization in its place."

I can confirm that "standard video stabilization" while using linear field of view while in 4K resolution at 60fps, is zero, none, nothing, no stabilization, whatsoever.

@aenriquez regurgitating that data is not really helpful or meaningful to this topic.

It's officially listed on the GoPro web page now, Hypersmooth 2.0 "coming soon" to 4K 60p Linear mode.  Just an FYI for those interested. Look at the Help article for Hero 8 Hypersmooth 2.0.   Not Boost, just Hypersmooth 2.0.
