No GPS Data - GoPro 9
[ New ]Hello GoPro - am looking for a fix on this, if anyone lese if having this problem, it's quite a significant one.
I have a new fully updated GoPro 9. I am running GoPro Quik and GoPro Player on my MacBook Pro running Mojave 10.14.6
So - I want to use the GPS guages - I have GPS Data turned to 'On' on the camera. I cannot see how to enagge the guages in GoPro player, so have to use GoPro Quik - 2.7.0.874. - when I try to do this, I have this error - the "No GPS Data" error. This is particulalry frustrating, as I need this function, and this always used to work, on older GoPro cameras ( i have had many - am not new to trying to make this work) My recrodings were done outside, I was wearing a Garmin device that recorded data with no problem - ie - I was not in a GPS shadow anywhere.
Is this a common issue, is GoPro Quik the only way to access the guages without non-thrid party (paid for) data extraction software, and is this something with a work around. If its a work flow thing, is anyone else able to make GoPro 9 GPS data work with Quik...? Is the GoPro 9 even recording my GPS data - is there a way to find out...?
Any thoughts welcome - especially from yourselves, GoPro....???
Many thanks
Tb

Re: No GPS Data - GoPro 9
[ New ]When GoPro QUIK was created, the latest camera on the market was the GoPro Hero 6. The GoPro Hero 7 came out and it was also supported by Quik. The GoPro Hero 8 and GoPro Hero 9 use a different GPS format and therefore they are not compatible with Quik. Quik has also been discontinued and therefore there will be no updates to make it compatible with the GoPro Hero 8 or GoPro Hero 9.
If you wish to use GPS gauges look for Dashware or Racerender. There's also another 3rd party solution that you can use that can be found here:
https://goprotelemetryextractor.com/free/
Or you can wait until GoPro releases their new software "Mural" which was originally due out this fall according to their own investor relations package.

Re: No GPS Data - GoPro 9
[ New ]hi,
there are some issues with the GPS.
in the threads below you will see that GPS information is missing.
is not clear why.
I've made many tests.
when hypersmooth is on/boost, there are less GPS valid data then if off.
but I cannot point to hypersmooth as the trigger.
I hope will be solved,
robert

Re: No GPS Data - GoPro 9
[ New ]I got my GPS to work however you have to turn the camera on and wait a few mins for it to get a GPS signal..
THEN when the GPS icon is lit up, it will capture but the data stream is super innacurate as when i run it through race render the speed shows 40mph when I'm sat at traffic lights and the map track jumps up and down in straight lines!
GOPRO Need to fix this ASAP before I do a youtube video of it dammin the GPS!
And as for Mural, I dont think that will work well if they dont sort out the GPS accuracy!
