Night Lapse Settings Hero 7 (Mountains/Stars)

What settings do you guys recommend for shooting a night lapse on a mountain with the stars/milky way in the background?

i tried to do it on a hero 5 and ended up with this bad result:

i got that on these settings using my hero 5:
- auto interval
- color gopro
- no editings/finishing
- wb 3000k
- iso min 100
- iso max 800
- sharpness medium

so i went out and bought a hero 7, hoping it can do a better job.

THANKS!!!

Hi @swiftsurf071,

You can try to use higher ISO.

Then just clean the noise on any video editing software that can clean noise or noise reduction feature.

Then you can color correct it for best result.

Re: Night Lapse Settings Hero 7 (Mountains/Stars)

the highest iso on the hero 5 was 800, but it says highest on hero 7 is 1600.  is there any way to adjust the other settings to get a higher than 1600 iso?

Re: Night Lapse Settings Hero 7 (Mountains/Stars)

Ohh Sorry @swiftsurf071,

I forgot you're using night lapse feature.

Try this settings

Min ISO 400 MAX 800

Sharpness Low

Whitebalance; Native

Color: Flat

Auto Interval

After that just try to color correct it and remove some noise on any editing software.

Hi @swiftsurf071,

You can bring back the sharpness on post editing.

And also it is easier to manipulate.

Re: Night Lapse Settings Hero 7 (Mountains/Stars)

so does the hero 7 (iso 100 to 1600) give me any advantage here over the hero 5 (iso 100 to 800)?  if not, i'll probably just return the hero 7 and stick to my hero 5!

Thanks!!!

Hi @swiftsurf071

Yes it does.

It produces better color range and detais.
