Re: New to go pro

gopro has a chart. it is noted in the manual

2k7 best for low level shots and on a tripod. were their words.

Everyday shots HD1080P30f. now that we got so many more options added. like said prefrence,  find what you like to shoot at, what your laptop or pc can handle and work with it.

2k7@30, for everything. 60fps more to the day time

Re: New to go pro

@toughgorge13775 - A lot of this is personal preference. I usually shoot at 2.7k resolution, 60 frames per second, and in Linear field of view. The file sizes are a little larger than at 1080 (and smaller than 4k), but these give me great results.

For photos, I shoot in Linear mode too.

Thanks,
Jeff

Re: New to go pro

I almost always shoot 1080p 30fps, just because I like to be really conservative with my data and file sizes. But you will have more versatility to crop in 2.7 or 4K if you're editing in 1080. And you will have the ability to get smoother slow motion in 60 fps or higher.

As far as scuba, if you use and are familiar with an editing software that can do some color corrections than turn on protunes with a flat color profile. That will maximize the light hitting the sensor and give you the best image and versatility for color correction. If you're not going to color correct, I would recommend looking into one of the filters made by GoPro for diving to avoid having a blue/green tint to everything.
