Does anyone know yet of a new firmware addressing all these factory problems that have been going on since a year with the GoPro 7 Hero black? (Battery drain, device not turning off and on as it should, etc).
I am not interested for a huge workaround, nor turning wifi, quick capture etc off, an OFF button is meant to do just that, and I can't fiddle around with the camera while on an Enduro or flying Aerobatics in case someone (GoPro) wants to point me to that direction.
All I care for is an estimate or a confirmation when or if there even will be a new firmware resolving all of these major problems?
Thanks in advance community !

Personally, I think the hero 7 black is dead development wise. It will be a surprise if we get another update adressing these issues, and who knows what else will break then (I didn't have the slow battery drain bug with the original firmware). Unless there is a 1 inch sensor and a revolutionary way to make hypersmooth work in low light, this is where I will stop with GoPro.

GoPro has been out in Sept 2018 8 months later we seen FW 1.20, FW 1.51, FW 1.61, and FW 1,71 Will we see FW 1.81 maybe not.
Good luck. on that not many are complaining I only hear Many are and that is a Fraction of a number of camera's sold. My suggestion is to contact GoPro get a new camera that is tested out and hop for the best, repeat til lyou are satasfied. Mine does not drain, mine does not freeze, mine works fine and mine is a replacement, why do I have a working camera???
I hope you do get to gopro. let them help you.

By "my works fine" what do you mean?
Just because for your situations it works fine, does not mean it is fine in general (I mean this respectfully). GoPro wants me to turn off "Voice command, quick capture, wifi" MANUALLY. I did that. Well, I was forced to, otherwise battery dead in 9 hrs. Question, so you are saying you can go on days with all these mods ON while battery is turned OFF? Also, mine turns off half the time, the other half red light just flashes and nothing happens, same with getting it started.
So, I read the reviews, and many, extremely many report this issue. No paid-reviewer on Youtube issues it however, the camera keeps being mentioned as the best action camera 2019 (so far). Also, I went to the store today and saw the GoPro 6 Black costing MORE than the GoPro 7 Hero Black, it cost 40 euros more !!!!!!
Ok, if I would use the GoPro for walking my dog, or doing regular normal activities, I would have surely kept the GoPro 7 Black, accepting a factory faulty camera as soon as I can get that amazing image stabilization and quality, BUT, put yourselves into my shoes, could you really with your camera, do hard Enduro, with Quickcapture off, a 150kg Enduro on an inclined slope, exactly when you need to record the most, having to manually fiddle around with it, risking the camera to drop and rolling down at least 100m, let alone how the heck can I get it after? If I lay the bike down, big chance it slides down too. So for this type of activity, it is useless. It is all a perspective question. I generalize however for it being faulty because simply put it is. They advertise themselves as an action camera, so I do plenty action and its main core functions do not work as they should. And apparently with a ton load of others too.

Like i said I have minimal issues. and I have gotten a replacement that works so not sure why you are with issues but yes soon the Hero 8 will take care of that and repeat all over again, am I wrong?

Before I go out I do check that I have a full battery and run a format of the SD card in the camera. Recording time is shorter than with older GoPro cameras, but I usually bring an extra battery or two just in case. I hardly ever turn connections off, sometimes use voice commands, and always have GPS on. My LCD brightness is at 10-20% usually. The orientation is set to UP or DOWN depending on how it's mounted. Depending on what in recording I usually use 2.7k/60 Superview or Linear.
The camera has not been out for a year and there have already been updates. Nobody can say if or when there will be another, but if there is an enhancement GoPro can safely do, they will.

The thing is, I cannot send this camera and wait 2 to 3 months at a time before getting one that works. And the fact is, the slow battery drain was introduced with 1.61 firmware in my case. This is a software bug, it's a waste of time and resources (not really sure but I think the shipping must be paid by me cause I can't see how can they sustain a profitable bussiness model with replacing all these cameras and paying for shipping every time).

I doubt GoPro will release a firmware update to fix maybe not all but most of the issues. We are waiting too much time since last firmware update but nothing...
If the issues in Hero 7 Black cannot be fixed and I don't care why, I want my money back!
