New GoPro Hero 8 stuck in timelapse when adding the latest update

Have a new Hero 8 that keeps getting stuck in a burst or timelapse mode (not really sure what it is). When setting it up, the app prompted me to update the software. This was then interrupted by the camera turning on and taking a picture every 3-4 seconds. When this happens, I'm unable to do anything on the camera. Starting a video gets interrupted by the next image. Going into the menu gets interrupted. The powering off process also gets interrupted and the camera stays on. Removing the battery and then reinserting sometimes stops this, but sometimes it powers itself back on and continues taking pictures. It seems to be random as to whether or not it stops. I can't seem to figure out what exactly is causing this, but it seems to be related to connecting the camera to the app.

@rickh7858 - Sounds like the firmware didn't install completely. If you do a manual update using the instructions at https://gopro.com/en/us/update/hero8-black, this should correct those issues.
