I have had a play this weekend but I think I may have to send this back,

I got a new SanDisk 128gb extreme 3 edition. Still over heating when not even recording.

I recorded 45mins of my football game and it used 100% of the battery on the lowest quality setting.

I have noticed theat the still pictures arent clear.

Also it will not turn off now.

Seems its definitely a faulty one.

So, I sent back the camera and have recieved a new one back. I use the term new loosely as this seems to be a refurbed one as it has a couple of dents and is clearly not new. Anyway, on its arrival I put in the battery along with the new memory card which is the best the best I can get. I paired it to my phone app, updated the unit and set it filming on the lowest resolution, after 15 minutes recording the camera was very hot. I couldnt hold it comfortably and the battery had gone down 30%. At least this one turns off unlike the other.

Have I just wasted over £400?

What SD card (make/model/size) and do you have another you can test with?
Exactly what settings? . Resolution, Frame Rate, Protune On/Off, Quick Capture On/Off, Voice activation On/Off, GPS On/Off, Connections On/Off
The lowest resolution 720p isn't the least taxing as it uses the highest frame rates

Format the card in the camera and then do a factory reset. Do not connect to the app when prompted and perform a test recording allowing the camera to record until the battery dies. Using 1080p/60fps the camera should record for about 80-90 minutes.

Sorry that  you sent back a Brand new camera to get a refurb,  was the camera you sent back brand new and where purchased from?  If purchased from GoPro I  get my Refund before it is to late and then get a new camera via a store. and chances of a headache may be less.

 

 

If you chose not to  tell us  the settings and resolutions  then it becomesa guessing game here.  heat due to 4K,  fast battery loss 100% brightness, to member  playing with settings to figure the best for them,

  so on and so on. 

 

As mentioned today fw 1.80 corrects most issues try that out  b

I have a SanDisk Extreme 128gb V30 xc1 U3, Tried with a 32gb Samsung which was as bad.

settings- Res 960 , 120 4:3 wide, low light, protune off, location off. stabilization off.

 

I will do the factory reset and see how I go.

I purchased from the GoPro site itself. It was brand new.

I'm going to try the factory reset and test like the guy above said then if that doesnt work I will have to give up. 

The last 3 years I have used a Hero 4 at football and its been perfect. Wish I had stayed with that.
