Need help for settings to record a multi-day road trip.

I have a Hero 3+ Silver, several 64gb sd cards, and plan on plugging into my cars power.  I had planned on doing a constant video (up to 8 hours each day) on 1080p, 30 fps, wide as I wand to get as much scenic veiw as possible.  I have starting wondering if it would be better to  use a time lapse method rather than a constant feed.  I want to end up with lots of scenic shots of the vistas without a jerky or jumpy video to watch.  Suggestions please.

@rockypeak6075 - A time lapse video might be a good option for this. It gives you a smooth time lapse since the video includes some of the motion blur, but it doesn't use as much storage space since you're only recording at set intervals. More info is at https://gopro.com/support/articles/how-do-i-use-time-lapse-video.

Thanks Jeff.  Is there anyway to figure out how much storage would be used?

Well, apart from the little counter at the top of the screen...

You could use the bitrate for the resolution you are shooting at.

Thanks.  I think I figured out the number it will create and it appears it would exceed my sd card size sooner than I would like.  On reviewing other videos of time lapses I just don't care for the way they turn out (IMO)...I may just go with standard video use the app to selectively choose what I record.
