@memyth pretty sure you have to update the camera. I’ve seen multiple posts on here with that tip. Hope that helps!

Hello @memyth

The resolution setting in 4K at 60fps with 16:9 format use HyperSmooth. I agree with @fireytree7606. If you are not seeing the option, and have not done the update yet, try doing it manually. You can find manual update instructions below:

  1. Go to the Update page and choose your HERO7 camera.
  2. Under "Other ways to update" at the base of the page, click "Update your camera manually."
  3. Enter your Serial Number and other requested information, click Next Step.
  4. Click "Download Update."
  5. Click "Click here to download firmware."
  6. Follow the steps on the screen for detailed instructions for your operating system.

Make sure that the camera is fully charged and that  you are using a recommended and formatted SD card. After the update, you should be be able to access the settings with Hypersmooth stabilization as presented here

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,
Marius

hey hallo. i have done the update like you write it down. but after that i still can not chance 4k with 60 frames and hypersmooth function. i only can choose it 2,7K 24/ 30/ 60 frames; 4K 24frames standard stabilisation/ 30 frames no stabilization...

I find it hard to believe if you are fully updated that you don't have 4K 60fps Hypersmooth. It was added in the latest firmware update.

Also are you sure you are not using a Hero6?

You may have not done the update correctly.

Using your computer, download the manual update. Extract the UPDATE folder to your computer. Insert your SD card into your computer with a USB/SD adapter. Copy the UPDATE folder to the root of the SD card (easiest to do if you format your card in the computer first). Eject the card and put it into your camera. Turn the camera on and allow it to run the update.

The camera will turn off and on during the update process and show a check made on the front LCD when done.

Let us know how the update process goes for you and if you have any issues.

Since you have done the update it sounds like you are in 4:3 format, not 16:9 format.  Hypersmooth is not available in 4K 60fps in 4:3 but is available in 16:9 after you have done the update.  When you are selecting the video quality and frame rate you should see 4:3 or 16:9 in the top right corner, if it's showing 4:3 then tap it and change it to 16:9 and then 4K at 60fps with Hypersmooth should be available..

@markolukasz,

Fps selection is also determined by the video format (pal/ntsc), if you change from one to the other you will see either 50fps/60fps, but they also dependent on the model and the shooting mode selected.

As long as you've done the update then you are probably in 4:3 format which does not allow 60fps in 4k. When selecting quality and frame rate you should see a 4:3 in the top right corner, tap it and select 16:9 and now 60fps should be available.

Problem solved. Camera must be set to NTSC in order to have the 60 fps available 😉. 50 fps is pal specific.

Hypersmooth is available at 4k 24, 25, 30, and 60fps, but there is no Linear mode for any 4k setting, only wide.

how to get rid of the battery backup. It is extreamly poor.. all the wireless connection of, voice control off, beep volume low, only back red led on...  It is my settings, but also the battery  gives 40 minutes in 1080 30p video recording

Hi @subratas741

You should be getting about 2 hours worth of recording time using the settings mentioned.

Please go over the steps on this article: Short Record Times

Thanks!

my (brand new) gopro hero 7 black does not have the 60fps option, not in 4k or 2.7 or 1080 (yes, i'm in the 16:9 field), the range just jumps from 50 to 100fps. Is it due to the last firmware or is something wrong with my camera? thank you!

Hello @joseluisr44. Check the settings and make sure that you are not on PAL. To verify this, go to Preferences, then Regional, then Video Format, and select NTSC.

@mariustanya is correct
60fps is only available in NTSC. If you are in a PAL region it's usually best to stay in this mode to avoid light flickering. Outdoors, away from artificial lights, NTSC is fine.
