Had purchased a Hero 7 beginning of this year, but never took it inside water until last week, since I never had a chance. It was mainly for recording timewarps and videos from my travel.
Last week I took it inside sea water, checking seals and battery compartment lock completely before going in. Starting from the shore and reached somewhere between 1-2 m underwater and then suddenly screen started flickering. And within few seconds it went dead. On checking out of water, there had been a leak inside. Read on this forum and found out that Tech support is understanding and the camera will most probably be replaced due to maufacturing defect.
But it was not to be. I was told by tech support that they could see dirt inside battery compartment (from the photographs I had sent to them). So I informed them that dirt is from the leak which had happened. I did not wipe it to show it perfectly in its damaged state.
They informed that warranty does not cover wear and tear and damage caused by user. How am I supposed to control water leak inside when there has not been any damage from my side.
Disappointment is undestatement. Do not purchase GoPro.
