Hello,

 

My GoPro Hero Session is practically brand new, however it won't power on. When I remove the sim card it makes the beeping sound and the screen lights up saying "NO SIM CARD" when I insert the sim, it doesn't power on at all or make any sound. It heats up very quickly as well and it makes my holidays very frustrating when I try to get it to function...

 

Would appreciate any feedback or help,

The problem carried on having tried a new memory card. I was fortunately lucky enough to get a new one with my 1 year warranty and the new GoPro seems to be working find now.

@theom26 - If you are seeing the "No SD card" message, then the camera is powering on. Are you unable to get it to start recording? If you press the small button on the back of the camera, does anything appear on the display screen?

 

The Session can get warm when charging or in use. That's a function of the battery activity. Warm is ok, but if it gets too hot to touch, then that's an issue we'll want to look into. 

 

Just so we have the info, what SD card are you using with the camera?

Thanks for the quick reply. I am unable to get it to start recording as both buttons do not engage any response at all including the button on the back of the camera, the screen remains blank. I feel it's very inconsistent with repsonses as well, as earlier it was indicating that it was charging with the red light whereas minutes ago after having put it on the charger it was saying "BUSY" on the screen.

 

I am using a SanDisk Ultra Plus 32GB sim I purchased with the camera.

If you are seeing "Busy", that's another sign that there may be an issue with the SD card. The Ultra Plus isn't one that we have on our recommended list. If you have or can borrow a card from the list, it would be good to try one to see if that resolves the issue. The list of recommended cards is at https://gopro.com/help/articles/Block/microSD-Card-Considerations.

I feel it doesn't respond when the sim card I have is inserted so hopefully the sim card is the problem. I will try to get another one today from the list you mentioned and let you know if it works tonight.

@theom26 I believe that the Ultra Plus has come up several times here as being a "problem" card.  Get one off the approved list and all should be fine.
