I have had a GoPro Hero3 silver for 2 years now and never had a problem. I havent used it for 6 months and I go to plug it into my PC (which has recenty been returned to factory settings, due to an issue) and now the GoPro is undetecable.
I understand the issue may be from me resetting the PC, if so how do I get the GoPro to be detected?
The issue may be with the GoPro, I have reset the GoPro aswell to make sure it wasnt any setting I had changed on the GoPro itself
The SD card is recognisable through a card reader but not when plugged into the PC via the GoPro.
I have read that now the GoPro is only recogniseable through the GoPro desktop app, well if so, my GoPro wont even be recognised in there. Please any help or advice is better than none. My laptop is Windows 7 and a HP is any of that info is helpful.

I'm sorry to hear that's happening. Have you tried running a manual update to your camera's software? Also, is the camera turned on when it's plugged into the computer, and have you tried using different cables or USB ports?
You could also try on another computer to see if it has to do with your computer's settings.
And if you were able to read the card by plugging it into the computer directly, you can transfer the footage off, reformat the card, and then try again with the camera.
I hope that helps!

same here. The camera is suddnely not detected by my computer. I tried a lot of things, nothing has worked. I borrowed a friends camera, same Hero 3+. My camera has the actual software v03.03. The computer is not responding at all. Right after I connect my friends camera, with the software v02.00, using the same cable, the same computer, and everything works fine. I tried to change the SD cards, no reaction.
In my opinion and experience, the problem is in the software v03.03.
Using Windows 10 x64.
Looking forward to any help.

If this is the case then I would recommend reaching out to the Support Team for further assistance. A lot of people have and have had that firmware without having an issue, but if the issue is determined to be stemming from the camera, then the Support Team would be the best ones to address the problem.
