Moisture & Dust Impact at Home

I just brought a new Go Pro Hero 7 Black

Does the Go Pro require any kind of special dry box storage ? I live in a home that has high humidity/moisture conditions (coastal area) and also mildy dusty environment. I intend to leave the Go pro stored as-is in a simple box in a drawer. I intend to take it out only 2-3 times a month but otherwise it will be stored as is. Would like to know if any special precaution is required.

Yes, I know it's waterproof etc. but still have this question.

Thanks

Regards

Re: Moisture & Dust Impact at Home

No, you're good.  GoPro HERO7 Black is waterproof to 33ft (10m) which means it's sealed up tight.  The times to be concerned about moisture and dust are when you open the media and battery doors.  Moisture in the air most likely wont be an issue, but even fine dust can compromise the seals.  You must keep these clean.  Never use anything but a lint free cloth to wipe the seals, and you should try to avoid even doing that.  Keep the seals from getting dust, dirt, or even a fine hair on them and you will be good to go.

If you are going to store your camera for any length of time, take the battery out.  If you are using it 2-3 times a week, you don't have to.  But if it's going to be more than a couple days, take the battery out, wrap it loosely in a paper towel and store it with the camera.  Alternatively, you can put it in a sealed bag with a silicone packet (the type that come in a box with a new pair of shoes).

BTW, I also live in coastal area. Haven't had any issues. You don't happen to live by the Oceano Dunes do you :)~

Re: Moisture & Dust Impact at Home

Can never hurt to protect a device.  I would not store it with my handman tools. I myself keep my camera on ashelf in a room ready to grab.   I do leave my port  door open for charging and forget to replace at times..

I think we all should be fine  I will offer this suggestion if on a cruise.  Wrap the camera in a towel. so when you walk out that Cold room your camera won't be moist, or humid.    On that note Enjoy your new camera.

Fish coastal as well. and all seasons no issues at all.
