Missing MP4 file, but LRV file created - Missing Shot!!

I realized I am missing a shot that I did with my GoPro - the file numbering shows that there was a gap in recording right where it should have been: eg- 9956, 9958, 9959.... but the one I need is the 9957.  I am able to see that there was a LRV file created for it, and I remember seeing the red light flashing... but i don't see the MP4.

I have the SD card, and it isnt available thru the finder or in the mobile app when the card is in the camera.

I realize now that this has happened a few other times as well in the past - this is just the first time I know for sure that I was recording and that I am definately missing a shot.

Is it possible the file is just damamged and can be recovered?

Any help would be appreciated

Got it @bigredpost

You may try to use a third party software if you have Windows.
I personally use recuva to recover my missing or accidentally deleted files.

It would be best to contact a data recovery specialist or GoPro Customer Support.

They might have more options.

Hi @bigredpost

I am having this issue if Import the file to Adobe Lightroom or Adobe Premiere Pro.
Did you do the same or it's straight out of the camera?

Let me know.

Re: Missing MP4 file, but LRV file created - Missing Shot!!

Both-

I am trying to import to Premiere from a drive that has an exact copy of the SD card.

I still have the SD card, so I mounted it on the computer and it is the same - the files does not appear in Finder or in the Import window in Premiere.

Re: Missing MP4 file, but LRV file created - Missing Shot!!

Yeah I can try some data recovery, but I'm lookin back thru some of my other archived footage, and I'm seeing the same kind of thing in other, older cards - no MP4, but has an LRV.  Different cameras -

Wondering if this is a common issue that others have seen?

Got it @bigredpost

I'll check the community and look fr similar issue.
I personally encountered that issue but only when I import the files to Lightroom or Premiere.

I haven't encountered that straight from the camera though.

I haven't encountered that file name skipping/missing issue.

I'll let you know as soon as I find out.
