We've been promoting GoPro since the HERO3. We own every version since then and were very pleased when it was announced that the HERO7 would have streaming capability. We continually request and hold out for FOV/Lense options while streaming but it still is not available on the 7,8, or 9. Is there any future for this feature in any of these cameras? 2020 is the year of live stream. This is the time to do it.
On a secondary, but not as critical issue, allowing the GoPro livestream to pass through the host smartphone's data plan rather than require a WiFi signal would also be a huge benenfit. Other small live streaming cameras have this capability (along with FOV adjustment), so it certainly is possible. Requiring wifi means customers will use HotSpot, that generally isn't part of their carrier's unlimited data plan; so additional cost or throttled connections after a certain point. Passing through their LTE/5G would be part of unlimited and save them a lot of money and capabiltiy.
