Issues in Cold Temps

I have read a few other posts related to this topic, however none seem to apply specifically to my situation.

My boyfriend and I bought a Session for ourselves during the black Friday sale this year. He skis and I snowboard and we were very excited to add this gadget to our toybox. However, the last two times we've hit the slopes, the camera battery has drained very quickly because of the cold. We made sure that the camera was fully charged before we left and we had WiFi off the entire time. When we got home and the camera warmed up a bit, it said that it was at nearly 90% battery. We tried to keep it in a jacket pocket while we weren't using it (on the lift, etc), but it really didn't seem to work very well.

I have read that (for other Hero models) keeping the camera in standby mode when not filming can help regulate the temperature. I have not been able to figure out if/how to put the Session into standby mode.

Other than sticking a handwarmer on the back of the camera, are there other solutions? It seems like a MAJOR design flaw considering the Session (and all GoPros) is specifically marketed to skiiers and snowboarders. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

In case it's helpful, our camera was on the following settings:

Resolution: 1080 SuperView

FPS: 30

FOV: Wide

Spot meter and protune: off

Megapixels: 8MP wide

SD Card: 16 GB

WiFi: Off

Thanks!

Re: Issues in Cold Temps

Those ideas are good. The issue is that batteries can lose charge in the cold weather. Keeping the camera warm when it's not in use can help reduce the drain.
