Is there a way to have motion detection on my Hero 7 Black? [ New ]

I'd love to use my Hero 7 Black as a camera to watch the foxes in my garden at night, is there a way I can setup the camera to work with motion detection so it only records movement and not continually. I thought a few years back it was built into my GoPro 3 but can't find any info on this topic, it would seem like something that should be fairly easy to impliment but I can't find anything other than 3rd party kit costing $100+

Unfortunately no model GoPro supports motion detection.  However if you buy a cheap $30 webcam the software usually includes motion detection, there's also freeware apps for Windows that work with such webcams and also support motion detection.  Remember, the GoPro is actually a sports action cam, not a security camera.

@supershore23817, that's an interesting question. This is currently not a feature on any GoPro cameras.

Wyze camera or Pan their night vision  motion tracking all for 20-30.

go to gopro.com/feedback then hear gopro say I'll pass this info on we  asked many years ago and stil wil lnot get that in a action camera?  lens is to wide.
