International Warranty?

I purchased a Gopro Fusion in Seoul during my vacation. I'm here for another 5 days but so not have time to go back to the retailer.

The camera is overheating when charging.
The battery drains even when turned off.

I tried reseting and removing/reinserting the battery. Still the problem remains.

What other support steps can I take in the mean time? I have important footage I need to capture while I'm here in Korea.

Is the warranty valid in the US when I return next week? I have a receipt but it's in Korean.

Re: International Warranty?

Yes, the warranty is valid when you get back to the US. Be sure to keep your proof of purchase.

To solve the issue though, GoPro cameras will get warm when charging. They shouldn't get too hot to touch, but they will get warm. If the Fusion gets too hot while in use, we'd want to check to make sure the SD cards you're using are compatible with the Fusion. We have a list of recommended cards at https://gopro.com/help/articles/block/microSD-Card-Considerations.

Using incompatible cards can make the processor in the Fusion work harder as it tries to engage with the SD card and to transfer data to the card. A card that can't keep up causes the camera to work harder and longer, which will drain the battery faster and generate heat.

Battery drain when the Fusion is off is a different issue. First, you'll want to make sure that the wifi connection from the camera is turned off when you turn the camera off. Leaving that connection on can drain power even when the camera appears to be off. If the wifi and the camera are both off and you're still getting significant battery drain, please contact our Support team at https://gopro.com/help/ContactUs. There may be another issue like a short that could be causing that.
